‘Knowledge is power.’ - Sir Francis Bacon
In 2005 she returned home to Owen Sound, Ontario and soon received a contract to work for a local fitness center where she was able to advise and encourage women to achieve their wellness and fitness goals. She also volunteered with the ‘Heart and Stoke Foundation of Grey and Bruce counties. She learned firsthand how important it is to contribute to her community. She was amazed to learn that we have many dedicated compassionate volunteers in our region.
Pay it forward
The main reason Diane returned to Owen Sound, her home was to help her father who, at the time was fighting lung cancer. This was such a special time, to be able to care for him. She had always been very close to her parents; but, being with her father, during his illness, was an invaluable and heartfelt experience. In 1996, her mother had passed away from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She considers herself fortunate in that she was able to help her father look after her mother while she courageously fought this illness. She learned so much about the human spirit during those care giving years. Her parents were always there for her so without hesitation; she was there for them when they needed her the most!
It has been a truly emotional and spiritual journey which has led Diane to a place where she can better relate to others while becoming a more compassionate person. Her life’s experiences and education have helped to guide her in the direction of Holistic Nutrition.
